Weekly Worship Service
Our next weekly service will be Sunday at 10 a.m. and we will celebrate the second Advent with Sherryl Koop speaking on An Advent Song of Ascents: Stand as a Signal from Isaiah 11:1-10 and Romans 15:4-13. Following the service, kids ages 4-14 are invited to Sunday School.
This Advent season we will be collecting food items for Harvest Manitoba. If you would like to contribute please bring your non-perishable food items to church during the next weeks and place them in the manager in the foyer.
Sunday Congregational Meeting and Soup & Buns Lunch
This Sunday there will be a brief Congregational Meeting following the service. The agenda is to provide an update regarding the Lead Pastor position. Some changes to the job description are being proposed. We have received a promising application that has created the opportunity to rethink our pastoral positions in order to maximize the experience and gifts that God has given to our present and potential pastors.
There will also be soup and buns lunch following the meeting. If possible, please bring a dessert to share.
Prayer Focus: Up to Restoration
In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s house will be the highest of all – the most important place on earth. It will be raised above the other hills and people from all over the world will stream there to worship. People from many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of Jacob’s God. There He will teach us His ways and we will walk in His paths.” Isaiah 2:2-3
Pray for young adults attending the Worship Night on Friday to “taste and see that the Lord is good!”
Advent Series 2023: An Advent Song of Ascents
The opening words of Psalm 122 capture some of the Advent spirit for this year, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’”
Advent is a season of anticipation, of watching and waiting for Christ’s return, but it is also a reminder that we are a work in progress. While we are anticipating, we also look back and remember the time when God broke into our history and became present to humanity in a remarkable way.
