June 10, 2024 – This Week at McIvor

2024-06-16 Philippians I Say It Again - Rejoice!
Weekly Worship Service

Sunday at 10 a.m. Pastor Kim will give the message I Say It Again – Rejoice! from Philippians 4:1-9, from our 8-part series on Philippians. Children ages 4-14 are invited to join us for Sunday School after the service.

Prayer Focus: Pressing on Towards the Prize

As I consider what Christ has done and the infinite value of knowing Jesus as my Lord, may I consider everything else a loss in comparison. May I forget what is past and strain towards what is ahead, pressing on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. May I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. May I live daily as a citizen of heaven, eagerly waiting for my Saviour, who is transforming me into His image. (from Philippians 3:7-21)

Sunday we have the honour of celebrating Ike Doerksen’s 100th birthday! May he continue to flourish, grow in grace, bear fruit and prosper, rich in trust and love and contentment–a living memorial declaring that the Lord is upright and faithful. (from Psalm 92:12-15)

Thank you from the One88 Community

On behalf of the One88 community, thank you for the generosity we received from McIvor. We are grateful that you are willing to partner with us in this way and help support the work we are doing. The supplies are being put to good use and are a blessing to this downtown community. Thanks again, Dave Ens

Found but not-yet-Claimed Items

A small afghan was left behind at the hobby show and a ring was recently found outside. If one of these items is yours, contact the office.

Delegates for the CCMBC National Assembly (AGM) – June 13, 6-8 p.m.

Would you like to be a McIvor delegate for the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches? The CCMBC National Assembly (AGM) is an opportunity to be informed of what is going on within the conference, have a voice in decision making and build relationships with other members, pastors and leaders. This virtual meeting is June 13 from 6-8 p.m. via Zoom. If you would like to be a McIvor delegate, contact the church office by Monday. Space is limited.

Promotion Sunday – June 23, 10 a.m.

On June 23 we want to celebrate with our Sunday School kids and graduates. If you know of someone in the congregation who has graduated from any level of schooling, please contact the office so that we can include them in this celebration.

McIvor Year End BBQ – June 27, 5:30 p.m.

Come celebrate the end of the school year, the wrap up of our Midweek Kids Club and our Youth Program, and show some appreciation for all our volunteers!

Youth Thursday – June 27, 7 p.m.

This service will be focused on the kids in our youth program, many of whom do not regularly attend McIvor. We will feature the youth in a variety of ways and talk about what we’ve been learning. They are very excited to be involved in this service! Please come and encourage the youth of our church and community.

Summer Worship Schedule

Mark your calendars! Our summer worship services will be held on Sunday mornings, with the exception of three weekends. Prior to each long weekend, the worship service will be held at 7 p.m. on the Thursday before the weekend: June 27, August 1 and August 29. This means no Sunday services on June 30, August 4 and September 1.

Help Send Newcomer Kids to Camp

The McIvor Missions Committee invites you to once again help send 14-16 newcomer children to Camp Arnes for the week of July 8-15. Financial donations designated “Campership Fund” are welcome. We are also looking for gently used sleeping bags, available at thrift stores. For any further information, please contact Colleen in the office. Prayer cards are available in the foyer.

Sign Up for the 2nd Annual McIvor Garden Tour – July 6, 10 a.m.

Our 2nd annual McIvor Garden Tour will take place July 6 at 10 a.m. That gives you plenty of time to plan your garden. Sign up here or in the foyer to include your garden on the tour and/or to participate in the tour. We can accommodate up to 8-10 gardens.
