May 13, 2024 – This Week at McIvor

2024-05-19 Philippians_ The Same Attitude as Jesus
Weekly Worship Service

Sunday at 10 a.m. Pastor Kim will continue our 8-part series on Philippians, with a sermon on Philippians 2:5-18 entitled “The Same Attitude as Jesus.” There will be no Sunday School due to the long weekend.

Prayer Focus: Praying Paul’s Prayer for Unity in Christ

Whatever happens, may we conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. May we stand together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith which is the Good News, without being intimidated in any way by those who oppose us. (from Philippians 1:27-28)

Therefore if we have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship together in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, may we be like-minded, love one another and work together with one mind and purpose. May we do nothing out of selfishness trying to impress others. Rather, let us be humble, valuing others above ourselves, not looking out only for our own interests, but taking an interest in others too. (from Philippians 2:1-4)

Jonathan Klassen will begin his role as Teaching Pastor on Wednesday. Pray for Jon and Lynette and their family as they move into their new home on Monday and join us here at McIvor. Thanks to those who have volunteered to help them with the move on Monday and to provide meals for them next week.

Kids Ministry Opportunity

At our congregational meeting last week we heard about the many ways that we are reaching children and youth in our church and the surrounding community. As these ministries grow, we need to plan for the fall and we need more people to be part of the planning! As a church we need to pray for the future of the family ministry activities and the significance that they have in the lives and spiritual formation of families. If you are interested in being part of a conversation about family ministry, please contact Pastor Mikayla. A meeting of interested people will be held soon.

McIvor Hobby Show – May 26, 2 p.m.

McIvor will host a McIvor Hobby Show on May 26. If you are interested in showcasing your hobby and sharing your special interest with others, contact Tamira.

Promotion Sunday – June 23

On June 23 we want to celebrate with our Sunday School kids and graduates. If you know of someone in the congregation who has graduated from any level of schooling, please contact the office so that we can include them in this celebration.

Summer Worship Schedule

Mark your calendars! Our summer worship services will be held on Sunday mornings, with the exception of three weekends. Prior to each long weekend, the worship service will be held at 7 p.m. on the Thursday before the weekend: June 27, August 1 and August 29. This means no Sunday services on June 30, August 4 and September 1.

2nd Annual McIvor Garden Tour – July 6

We are excited to announce that our 2nd annual McIvor Garden Tour will take place July 6! That gives you plenty of time to plan your garden. If you would like to include your garden in the tour, sign up will begin in June.
