April 1, 2024 – This Week at McIvor

2024-04-07 The Power of Jesus - The Great Invasion
Weekly Worship Service

Sunday at 10am we welcome Pierre Gilbert for a three week series The Power of Jesus. This week he will be speaking on The Great Invasion from Mark 1:1-15 and Psalm 2. Children ages 4-14 are invited to join us for Sunday School following the service.

Prayer Focus: The Power Within Us

…He sent His own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins.Romans 8:3

“…Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead!” Luke 24:5-6

And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.Romans 8:10-11

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.Ephesians 1:19-20

McIvor Spring Break Day Camp for Kids and Youth

Thank you Monica and every volunteer at Spring Break Day Camp this week! From organizing, to baking, to playing, to teaching, to setting a Christ-like example…McIvor, you were amazing! The church was buzzing with life and the eternal investment in the kids, so valuable! Thank you!

Please pray for the kids who were at camp this week: that they will experience the life, freedom, hope and peace in Jesus that is available to all who believe and that we celebrate this weekend!

Important Update from the HR Committee in Advance of the Vote on April 7

On March 9-10 Jon Klassen candidated at McIvor Ave. Church for the 1.0 Teaching Pastor Position. Jon, and sometimes Lynnette, met with the HR and Search Committees, Council, Office Administrators and Kim. They toured the facility and Jon preached. They again visited informally for worship on March 17. Jon indicated they would like to be considered for the position.

On March 19 the Search/HR Committees and Council met to review the candidating process, communications and references and are making the following recommendation to the congregation:

Motion: that Jon Klassen be hired for the 1.0 Teaching Pastor position and Kim Stoesz for the 1.0 Lead Pastor position gradually transitioning to .7. (Moved by Henry Reimer, Second by Ed Redekopp)

The vote will be held on April 7, 2024 at a brief Congregational Meeting following the service.

For members who are not able to be present at McIvor Church on April 7, 2024, Advance Voting will be made available. Please contact the office via email or telephone to receive a link to vote electronically, or to receive instructions for advance voting. Advance voting will close at 4pm on April 5, 2024.
