April 22, 2024 – This Week at McIvor

2024-04-28 Philippians Greetings from Paul
Weekly Worship Service

Sunday at 10 a.m. Pastor Kim will kick off a new series on Philippians, with a sermon on Philippians 1:1-11 entitled “Greetings from Paul”. Children ages 4-14 are invited to join us for Sunday School after the service.

Prayer Focus: The Power of Jesus – Justice and Grace

Jonathan Klassen will begin his role as Teaching Pastor on May 15. Pray for Jon and Lynette and their family as they make the move to Winnipeg and as they join us here at McIvor.

Pray for Agnes Dyck who is in the hospital: that she would experience God’s peace as she waits for tests and results. If you would like to visit her, please check with her son Bob first.

“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory…And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.Romans 5:1-2, 5

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.Romans 5:8-9

For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.Romans 5:17-19

God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.Romans 5:20-21

Spring Congregational Meeting – May 5

Mark your calendar for a Congregational Meeting on May 5 after church. Please bring a dessert to share.

Opportunities with Manitoba Harvest

The McIvor Food Bank has now met all our obligations to Manitoba Harvest for the grant monies we received a year ago. This includes expanding the number of clients we provide assistance to on the evening food distribution.

We are currently looking for a person or a couple that may be interested in helping out once every two weeks to pick up bread from a local grocer. If you know of anyone else that may be interested in joining our team or volunteering in other ways, please have them contact Rodney.

McIvor Hobby Show – May 26

We will be hosting a McIvor Hobby Show on May 26. If you are interested in showcasing your hobby and sharing your special interest with others, sign up with Tamira in the foyer. Let us know if you need a table or a space in the gym to set up your hobby. Feel free to demonstrate and allow others in the Church family to try your hobby for themselves.

2nd Annual McIvor Garden Tour – July 6

We are excited to announce that our 2nd annual McIvor Garden Tour will take place July 6! That gives you plenty of time to plan your garden. If you would like to include your garden in the tour, sign up will begin in June.

Caution Regarding Union Gospel Mission Fake Canvassers

Union Gospel Mission (UGM) has advised us that there is someone posing as a UGM representative going door to door asking for donations. UGM does not conduct such campaigns and asks that cash donations not be given to anyone soliciting at your door. If you encounter such a person, please advise the police, who have been made aware of this situation.

** Please consult the bulletin board for other events and opportunities, including missionary updates and job postings. **
