June 2, 2025 – This Week at McIvor

2025-06-08 Holy Spirit - The Day of the Lord
Weekly Worship Services

Sunday at 10 a.m. Pastor Jon will begin a new series on the Holy Spirit, speaking on Joel 2:12-32, with a sermon entitled, The Day of the Lord. Sunday School for children preschool to grade 5 will follow the service.

Pray for Manitobans!

Our province has recently declared a State of Emergency due to 22 active fires, with many of those burning out of control near cities and towns. Let’s pray together for:

  • rain and favourable conditions to slow the fires
  • Cornerstone MB Church in Flin Flon and Simonhouse Bible Camp (both evacuated)
  • protection, peace and hope for 17,000+ evacuees, with many making their way to Winnipeg anxious and heartbroken
  • strategic and effective aid to those in need
  • safety, wisdom and strength for firefighters and decision makers
OPPORTUNITIES TO CONNECT AND SERVE
Summer Volunteers Needed at McIvor Food Bank

Summer is approaching quickly, and while many of us are looking forward to traveling and camping, the food bank is still in need of support. We’re looking for volunteers who can help once or twice a month distributing food on Thursday mornings.

If you’re able to lend a hand, please contact Rodney by email or by texting 204-667-2900. Your help makes a big difference–thank you!

Volunteer Opportunity: McIvor Community Friendship Potluck Supper – June 12, 5-6:30 p.m.

The McIvor Community Friendship Supper is a monthly potluck, inviting Harvest, Razorback and Kids’ Club families to join us. This is a McIvor potluck and we are not expecting our guests to bring anything.

We had just enough food at the last potluck and we hope to continue conversations, connecting with those from our neighbourhood in two weeks’ time!

The potluck is a come and go between 5 and 6:30 p.m. We’d love you to come and bring a main dish or dessert for 8-10 people. We also need volunteers to help with kitchen duties, dishwasher operation and/or table and chair set up/take down.

Let’s invite the young families in our midst! Who remembers our mission statement from a long time ago: A church family with a heart for the community? Let’s embrace our community connection responsibilities. Contact Ron for information and to sign up.

Luke 10:27 NIV: “He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’”

The process is already underway and we are looking for a few more people to join our committee and help us prepare for and go through this process.
