June 8, 2026 - This Week at McIvor

Sunday at 10 a.m. we will gather together for our worship service and we will welcome Evelena Thiessen. She will continue with Stories From Scripture, speaking from Ruth 3:1-18; Matthew 7:7-8 with a sermon entitled Daring to Act.

Evelena Thiessen is from Southern Ontario, but graduated from Steinbach Bible College in 2022 and (officially) moved to Manitoba that year. She has worked in full-time ministry at Youth For Christ Morden for about three and a half years and completed her YFC credentialing process last December.

Evelena lives in Morden with her husband Xander. They just bought a home in the spring and already it tends to be filled with friends and guests and a couple of kittens. Xander and I also serve as co-leaders in a community young adults ministry called MOSAIC.

Sunday School for children ages preschool through grade 5 will be offered following the service.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Update from Council

Council’s recommendation to extend Pastor Sherryl’s term from September 1 to December 31, 2026, was officially approved by vote last Sunday at the congregational meeting. This extension includes a scheduled leave for Pastor Sherryl during July and August. We have been greatly blessed by Sherryl’s ministry and are very pleased that she will be returning to us this fall!

Women’s Day at Bill’s Garage – June 16, 1:30 p.m.

Promotion Sunday – June 21

Please join us on June 21 for Promotion Sunday. We will celebrate all our kids and youth who are finishing their school year, many of whom are marking milestones as they graduate Preschool, Grade 5, Grade 8 and Grade 12.

If you completed post-secondary studies this year, please let the church office know as we would also like to celebrate your achievement!

Day of Prayer and Fasting for Lead Pastor and Volunteer Positions – June 28

We invite you to join in a Day of Prayer and Fasting for the Lead Pastor and volunteer positions that are available. Please prayerfully fast however the Lord prompts and let’s trust God to go above and beyond what we can imagine!

Summer Worship Schedule

Mark your calendars! Our summer worship services will be held on Sunday mornings, with the exception of the three long weekends. Prior to each long weekend, the worship service will be held at 7 p.m. on the Thursday before: July 2, July 30 and September 3. This means there will be no Sunday services on July 5, August 2 and September 6.

Counselling Services Coming in Fall – September 2026-April 2027

Meghan Fowler, a student in the Providence Theological Seminary’s Master of Counselling program has asked to complete her practicum in partnership with our church. Her services will be available from September 2026 to mid-April 2027. Council believes that this is a wonderful opportunity for McIvor congregants to seek Christian counselling during this period.

Save the Date: McIvor’s 50th Anniversary – October 3-4, 2026

We are excited to celebrate McIvor’s 50th Anniversary this fall! Please save the dates of October 3 and 4. Further details will be forthcoming, but a dinner will be included on Saturday night.
