Weekly Worship Service
On Sunday at 10 a.m. Pastor Jon will continue with Stories from Scripture, preaching a sermon entitled God’s Name is Revealed, based on Exodus 2:23-25; 3:1-15; 4:10-17; John 8:58.
Following Sunday’s service, ushers will be at the back of the church to receive any contributions you may want to give to the Caregivers Fund. The Caregivers Fund is administered by the Caregivers Team. As practical needs arise within the congregation, or with people connected to the congregation, the team discusses and discerns an appropriate amount to contribute towards the need. The funds are used in a discrete manner and the Caregivers Team protects the privacy of the individuals or family. For more information talk to Clara, Jake, Geri, Carol or Pastor Sherryl.
There are many informal ways to volunteer–especially on Sunday mornings. Please welcome the stranger, show them where they can get something to drink, where the bathrooms are and even if they need directions to the sanctuary. Let’s notice and welcome those who may come through our doors Sunday morning that are new faces to us!
COMMUNITY NEWS
Thank You!
We would like to thank the Christian Education Committee for organizing the Church Picnic on Sunday. Thanks also to all who participated…it was a great turnout and fun to spend time together!
McIvor Foodbank Nominated for Volunteer Service Award!
Let’s give a big THANK YOU to Rodney, Jeannette and all the others from McIvor (and beyond) that volunteer with Harvest Manitoba. McIvor Church has been nominated for a Volunteer Service Award through Harvest Manitoba for all the hard work done serving the community and having extras like breakfast! The awards ceremony is on Monday at 7 p.m. and we will update you on whether we won the award or not.
Finance Committee Update
We have sent out the balance of funds this month for the agencies and missionaries we support, rather than wait until the end of the year. Therefore, the deficit is overstated by $40K compared to this time last year.
Giving is down approximately 19% compared to the same time period as last year. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” – Malachi 3:10
Updating Personal Information on Realm
Realm is the software and mobile app that we use as a church directory to communicate with you and to track giving and to generate receipts. Please update your information to facilitate this. If you are NOT in the Realm church directory, please consider having your information added. You may do this in several ways:
- at the table in the foyer on Sundays following the services,
- using this online form,
- or directly through the Realm Connect App on your mobile device (download here).
Your picture can also be updated as we have a photographer available this Sunday after church.
First Aid Certification Opportunity
We are offering first aid (first time and recertification) for those who are part of McIvor ministries. The cost of the course will be covered by the church and it would be one afternoon or evening. We’re hoping for a couple people from most ministries to join us for the training. If you are interested, please let Pastor Mikayla know prior to September 30.
Supervised Playtime and Sunday School
Supervised Playtime for young children is offered during the worship service on most Sundays.
Sunday School for children preschool to grade 5 are offered in two classes following the service:
- Preschool to Grade 1 – meet in the preschool play area
- Grades 2-5 – meet downstairs in the Kids Chapel
We are looking for those willing to help with Supervised Playtime during the service, or to help teach Sunday School. Contact Monica for more information.
Adult Education Class begins Sunday, 11 a.m.
This fall our Adult Education Classes will feature video sessions from Steinbach Bible College’s 2025 Leadership Conference with speaker Rick Langer. The series is titled Winsome Conviction: Disagreeing without Dividing the Church. Recent times have shown us that Christians across denominations, and even within individual churches, have significant disagreements on things that really matter. This polarizing effect demonstrates that we don’t know how to disagree well, leaving many feeling like they need to choose between having convictions, or having unity. Dr. Langer is hopeful for a better way, in which Christians hold strong and well-formed convictions, and disagreeing well can be a catalyst for deeper fellowship and unity among and within churches.
Community Supper and Kids Club Family Kick-Off Event – Thursday, 5-6:30 p.m. (come and go)
Our next Community Supper will be on Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m. Harvest, Razorback and Kids Club families have been invited to join us for a come and go style supper. We had a wonderful supper in June with about 120 participants. Now we are partnering with our Kids Club program to provide family activities from 6:30-7:45 p.m. All ages are welcome!
The church is providing hotdogs and hamburgers and we are asking you to bring salads and cookies. We are not expecting our guests to bring anything. We also need people to help with simple kitchen duties, table and chair set up/take down and to make coffee. Contact Ron for more information.
Most importantly, WE NEED YOU! Please come out and support our community outreach–a wonderful opportunity to visit and connect with our neighbours in a meaningful way.
“For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’” Galatians 5:14
