September 30, 2024 – This Week at McIvor

2024-10-06 Peace in Trials - Katia Moreau
Weekly Worship Service

Sunday at 10 a.m. we will hear from Katia Moreau, who will share some of her incredible faith journey with us! Her theme is Peace in Trials, from Philippians 4:6-7. Sunday School for children aged preschool to grade 5 will follow the service. We will continue our series, Hebrews: Jesus is Greater, the following week.

McIvor Refresh – Week 3 – Confession

If you missed picking up a physical Prayer Map and/or weekly cards, you can access them here.

Kids’ Club – Wednesdays, 7 p.m.

Our midweek Kids’ Club is looking for 3 more volunteers willing to help out one Wednesday night a month. There are a variety of roles that need to be filled. Contact Monica to sign up, or if you have questions.

MCC Quilt Tying – Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to noon in the foyer

A handmade quilt provides not only warmth, but also a tangible reminder to people in vulnerable situations that their needs are not forgotten. Last year, MCC shipped 53,601 comforters to communities in Canada, El Salvador, Malawi, Ukraine, the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) and Zambia. All are welcome to join us in tying quilts to help in this MCC initiative.

Pickleball Kickoff – Friday, 9-11 a.m.

Come out, get active and give Pickleball a try! Pickleball is resuming on Monday evenings (6-7 p.m. with kids and 7-9 p.m. for adults) and Friday mornings for adults (9-11 a.m.). All ages and skill levels are welcome and a racquet and footwear are assumed. Contact Irv for more information.

Abide Worship Night for Young Adults – Friday, 7 p.m.

Join us for a night of worship, prayer and fellowship in the Coffeehouse!

Donwood Soup and Pie Fundraiser – October 4, Donwood Auditorium

Pre-booking at 204.668.4410 is preferred. $15/person (additional donations are appreciated). Hosted by the Donwood Auxiliary, all funds raised will go to Donwood projects. Read more.

Worship Team Opportunity

We are always looking for singers and musicians who have a passion for worshipping Jesus! In particular, you may have noticed our very quiet, empty drum set on the stage, just itching to be played. If you or someone you know may be interested in participating on the worship team, please talk to Anne or another member of the team.

McIvor Coffeehouse

Do you love coffee? Our Coffeehouse Team is looking for Baristas to join us! This is a great way to connect with our church community and learn a new skill (making fancy coffee is fun). All training provided—no, you don’t need to be a trained coffee expert. Our team is a lot of fun and we’d love for you to join us. Baristas typically serve once every 4-6 weeks. If you want to join the McIvor Coffeehouse Team, or have questions, please connect with Luke.

Young Adult Bible Study

Young adults are invited to join our Bible study, which brings together people from multiple churches to dig into the Word and discuss the historical, theological and relational aspects of the Bible. There is also an opportunity to break into smaller groups to discuss the study and check in about people’s lives. Often we meet in someone’s home over coffee, tea and snacks. Contact Pastor Mikayla for more information.

MBCI Opening Program – October 8, 7 p.m.

The MBCI leadership team invites you to the MBCI Opening Program, where we will commit our year to God’s care, get to know new staff, recognize long-serving staff at significant milestones, present Mr. Hiebert with the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence in STEM, recognize Mr. Plett’s years of service as Athletics Director, and enjoy some musical offerings from our students. Following the program there is an opportunity to visit classrooms and catch up with friends.

** Please consult the bulletin board for other events and opportunities, including missionary updates and job postings. **
