Weekly Worship Service

On Sunday at 10 a.m. Pastor Jon will continue our sermon series Stories from Scripture, with a sermon entitled Binding of Isaac, based on Genesis 21:1-3; 22:1-14 John 1:29.

This week there will be a table in the foyer where you can sign up for Kids Club OR join a Worship Team. Please prayerfully and joyfully sign up if possible!

Church Picnic – Sunday, following the service, Bunn’s Creek Centennial Park

Join us on Sunday following the service at Bunn’s Creek Centennial Park, 365 McIvor Ave! Bring a picnic lunch, a chair or blanket to sit on and a dessert to share.

Condolences to the families of…

Martha Penner – Our condolences to Terrilynn (Peter) Goertz on the passing of Terrilynn’s mother, Martha Penner on Monday, August 25. She is also grandmother to Joshua (Ronalee) Goertz and great grandmother to Logan and Isla. Her funeral will be at Glen Eden Funeral Chapel, 4477 Main Street, on September 19 at 2 p.m. Read her obituary.

Rose Hiebert – Rose died peacefully on August 27. Together with her husband Bill, they were charter members of McIvor Church and the first custodians hired by the church. Her funeral was Friday at Eastview Community Church and can be viewed here. Read her obituary.

Livestream Update

Thanks to the hard work and perseverance of many, we were successfully able to livestream again on Sunday! We have appreciated your patience and understanding as we seem to have resolved the technical issues that have prevented us from doing so throughout the summer. Thank you!

Updating Personal Information on Realm

Realm is the software and mobile app that we use as a church directory, to communicate with you and to track giving and to generate receipts. Please update your information to facilitate this. If you are NOT in the Realm church directory, please consider having your information added. You may do this in several ways:

at the table in the foyer on Sundays following the services,
using this online form,
or directly through the Realm Connect App on your mobile device (download here).

Your picture can also be updated as we have a photographer available for that Sunday, September 21 and 28 after church.

55+ Walk and Talk – September 16, 9:30 a.m.

Join us at 55+ Walk and Talk…Enjoy the music of Castillos, bring a mug, snack and $5. See you there!

Supervised Playtime and Sunday School

Supervised Playtime will be offered during the worship service for young children beginning this Sunday.

Sunday School for children preschool to grade 5 will be offered in two classes as of September 21 following the service:

Younger Class (preschool to grade 1) – meet in the preschool play area
Older Class (grades 2-5) – meet downstairs in the Kids Chapel

We are looking for those willing to help with Supervised Playtime during the service, or helping teach Sunday School. Contact Monica for more information.

Adult Education Class begins September 21, 11 a.m.

This fall our Adult Education Classes will feature video sessions from Steinbach Bible College’s 2025 Leadership Conference with speaker Rick Langer. The series is titled Winsome Conviction: Disagreeing without Dividing the Church. Recent times have shown us that Christians across denominations, and even within individual churches, have significant disagreements on things that really matter. This polarizing effect demonstrates that we don’t know how to disagree well, leaving many feeling like they need to choose between having convictions, or having unity. Dr. Langer is hopeful for a better way, in which Christians hold strong and well-formed convictions, and disagreeing well can be a catalyst for deeper fellowship and unity among and within churches.

Community Supper and Kids Club Family Kick-Off Event – September 25, 5 p.m. start

Our next Community Supper will be on September 25 from 5-6:30 p.m. We will be partnering with our Kids Club program on these evenings to provide family activities from 6:30-7:45 p.m. All ages are welcome!

To help ensure we have enough food, we will have a signup sheet in the foyer to bring side salads and cookies for this evening.

McIvor Kids Club begins September 25

Kids Club is moving to Thursday evenings this fall! Our midweek kids programming is expanding to include Kindergarten to Grade 5 and will run from 6:45 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

We are looking for volunteers to help with our registration table and the setup and cleanup of snacks, as well as 2 people willing to drive 2-4 kids to and/or from Kids’ Club, who would not otherwise have the means to attend. If you are willing to help, please contact Monica.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) Class (6 weeks, beginning October 30, 10 a.m.)

If you or anyone you know might be interested in learning English as an additional language, McIvor is offering EAL Classes. We are looking for people willing to attend and engage in conversation with students.

Everyone is warmly invited to a concert featuring music, dance and stories of God’s faithfulness from students living in a slum in Paraguay. This FREE CONCERT will be in Winnipeg twice: Thursday, September 25, at 7 p.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church and Sunday, September 28, at 3 pm at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church.
